Dr. Engle has played a pivotal role in their approval process and continuing approval with the California Board of Registered Nursing. Additionally, she teaches courses in nursing leadership, policy and regulation, research, and evidence-based practice.
Her current role is adjunct professor teaching undergraduate nursing students. Her extensive career also included serving as a nursing education consultant for the Board of Registered Nursing between 2014 and 2019, where she worked on regulations, practice issues, and other aspects related to nursing practice in California. From 2010 to 2014, Dr. Engle was the associate dean and director of the associate degree nursing program at Napa Valley College and a professor on campus between 2005 and 2014.
Dr. Engle's career began in clinical settings where she held various leadership roles. She was the clinical nursing director at Doctors Medical Center San Pablo from 1997 to 2004 and a manager and clinical nursing director at Doctors Hospital Pinole in 1988. Dr. Engle's dedication to improving patient outcomes and mentoring nurses has been a hallmark of her career.
Dr. Engle's academic achievements have been foundational to her success. She holds an Associate of Applied Science in registered nursing from Middlesex College in 1981, a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1997 and a Master of Science in nursing administration in 2000 from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in health systems leadership from Chamberlain University in 2016. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Dr. Engle is actively involved in professional and civic organizations. In light of her success, Dr. Engle was named as the Manager of the Quarter during her career. She is also the recipient of a Health Impact DAISY Team Nurse Leader Award in advancing compassionate care in policy.
