WOODINVILLE, WA, September 10, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Libby Landy has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Landy is an experienced musician with more than 40 years of professional success playing the viola and violin locally and abroad throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Having performed classical music publicly in the symphonic, ballet, and opera settings, she has also garnered experience in such genres as jazz, world, rock, and rap. Moreover, Ms. Landy has been heard in films and on radio. Besides playing locally as a freelancer, she performs regularly as principal viola for Kirkland Civic Orchestra (formerly Microsoft Orchestra) since 1995, viola with Everett Philharmonic Orchestra since 2015, and Bellevue Symphony since 2022. Libby founded Emerald City String Quartet on viola in 2001.
Throughout her professional career, she was an audio engineer for Microsoft from 1995 to 1998, while collaborating with several other orchestras as viola or principal viola. Performing under batons of Gerard Schwartz with Seattle Symphony and Morton Gould, and performing for the Dali Lama ranks in her top experiences.
Initially learning to play the violin at age eight, Ms. Landy later introduced the viola to her repertoire while in college, and as the first classical violaist at Berklee College of Music, was principal of the college's first classical symphony orchestra.
Despite ongoing challenges that have hindered her ability to play due to breast cancer over 15 years ago and having to turn down gigs and requests for her to perform, Ms. Landy remains committed to the industry and hopes to continue playing for as long as possible.
Locally, Ms. Landy plays in her community orchestra. She also leads a local breast cancer support group as its senior-most member. As part of her responsibilities, she regularly attends meetings and provides insight and guidance to those in need.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Landy graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in music production and engineering.
