Dr. King's journey to his achievements is a testament to his dedication and perseverance. After earning a Bachelor of Science in French with a minor in English from Savannah State University, Dr. King served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Upon returning to civilian life, he embarked on a career in education, teaching French to students across different age groups. His commitment to continuous learning led him to pursue a master's degree in education at Georgia Southern University, where he also obtained his teaching five and six certifications.
Dr. King, the sole member of his family to receive a college degree, continued pursuing higher education. He earned a master's degree through the dual Savannah State University and Armstrong State University programs and an EdD through the Business University of Costa Rica. Backed by his considerable expertise, Dr. King climbed the ranks in education, eventually becoming the school principal for the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System in 2003. His journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and dedication.
In conjunction with his professional pursuits, Dr. King aligned himself with the Foreign Language Club in his district. Similarly, he volunteered with his church, preparing and distributing meals to local park visitors two to three times a week. Although his career has been filled with highlights, including being featured as a Top Professional in the Wall Street Journal, he is most proud of his higher education pursuits and teaching students with behavioral disorders. Driven to help them reach their fullest potential, he placed cards on their desks with the desired behavioral changes written on one side and what he expected from them to change their behavior on the other. When Dr. King witnessed changes in their behavior, he rewarded them.
Looking back on his career, Dr. King credits perseverance and support for his success. He wants to ensure his grandchildren receive a good education and learn to be self-sufficient within the coming years. Additionally, Dr. King will release a book about his life, "The King Who Few People Really Know," pending final approval for publishing.
