She also published her first book, "Spirit Rising," in 2023, which chronicles her journey with depression and serves as a memoir and an advocacy piece for mental health awareness. Furthermore, Dr. Hoard frequently conducts workshops to further knowledge in her field. Dr. Hoard is working on her second book.
Dr. Hoard's career began with a solid educational foundation. She earned a Bachelor of Science in special education from Arizona State University and a Master of Science in educational psychology from the University of Arizona. In 1992, she received a Doctor of Education in educational psychology at Northern Arizona University. Additionally, Dr. Hoard is a licensed psychologist through the Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners.
Dr. Hoard's contributions extend to her professional endeavors through her early memberships in the American Psychological Association and the Arizona Psychological Association. She remains committed to advancing mental health treatment. She is also active via civic engagements, having participated in fundraisers for A Stepping Stone Foundation, Autism Speaks, and preschools, and hosted events under the banner of Spiritual Play.
In light of her success, Dr. Hoard has been recognized with several awards from such organizations as the Arizona Psychological Association. She attributes much of her success to her parents' encouragement, emotional support, and inspiration from her mother's experience as a preschool director and her father's background in public service and sales.
