BOYNTON BEACH, FL, September 12, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- G. Spencer Myers has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

"By the time I was five I had gotten a tattoo and run away from home," Mr. Myers tells us in his 2005 memoir, "A Letter to My Grandson." Later he suffered job losses, broken marriages, a business failure and twenty-five re-locations. Along the way he earned an MBA, became certified by the American College of Sports Medicine, wrote four books, managed two successful businesses and put 400 sq. ft. of solar panels on a 140-year old home listed on the National Register of Historic Places. No one had ever done that.

Although he is the founder and president of two successful companies in completely different fields, payment processing and property management, he is most proud of his work promoting conservation and environmental awareness. He is the creator of the Dr. Derk Bryan ecological thriller series. He has authored several notable publications, including "Know Your Rights When Choosing a Health Spa" (1986), "Pest" (2006), "25 Ways Guaranteed to Reduce the Cost of Credit Card Processing" (2012), "A Letter to My Grandson" (2005) and "Dead Wrong," (2022). His latest Derk Bryan thriller, "Love, Loss and Obsession," will be released later this year.

In 1996 Mr. Myers founded American Payment Processors Inc. Under his leadership, the company has grown to become a reputable name in the payment processing industry. Since 2002, Mr. Myers has served as the president of Condo Rentals Inc., a company that buys, rehabs and manages residential rental properties.

Mr. Myers' journey into writing began in his 30s when he entered a poem in a college writing contest. It was entitled, "Chairs." The poem won Honorable Mention, but the photo of the chair won first prize in photography. His poetry occasionally shows up in his books. In the early 1990s he was inspired by author Carl Hiaasen to craft fiction. "I was on page thirty-two of Carl's first novel, "Tourist Season," when the revelation hit me. I can do this." Following Carl's lead Myers' novels often highlight environmental issues and political corruption in Florida and elsewhere, using humor to engage readers while addressing serious societal issues. For instance, in "Dead Wrong" a Reverend campaigns for a Constitutional Amendment that will guarantee everyone control over his or her own body. "Greed, sex, religion and murder," Myers says form the basis of his work with the climate crisis as the backdrop and Derk Bryan as our conscience.

Myers earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting, economics and marketing from the University of Michigan in 1967 and an MBA from Bowling Green State University in 1969. In addition to his degrees, he holds certifications in the fitness field from the American College of Sports Medicine and in criminal justice planning from the University of Louisville. "I know a little bit about a lot of things," he says, "which is essential for a writer." His books have been featured in the catalog of authors by University of Michigan business school graduates, a testament to his success and recognition among peers.

He was once politically active, having been a charter member of the Campaign to Impeach Nixon, but now prefers to express his opinions through his writing. He gave up his seat on the Board of Directors of his Homeowners Association when he became a member of the Florida Writers Association and the Mystery Writers of America. He enjoys sharing ideas with writers old and new.

Looking ahead, Mr. Myers is passionate about addressing the challenge of global warming through his writing. His book, "A Letter to My Grandson," inspired the 1st Palm Beach County short story contest entitled In Search of Integrity. He is releasing a revised version that will challenge all grandchildren to address what he calls the crisis of their lifetime: Global Warming. He aims to educate and inspire young people of all ages to consider their own carbon footprints with every decision they make. The main character in his books, Dr. Derk Bryan, reflects this commitment by making eco friendly choices that Mr. Myers hopes will influence readers to adopt more sustainable practices.
