His responsibilities include executing test measurements in locomotive, wayside and base station environments along with troubleshooting GPS environment issues. He has also conceptualized and co-developed the Advanced Radio Map Tool, the Deployment Support Map Tool and the Discovery Node Network Dashboards.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Edmondson served as principal technologist and technical director at ManTech International Corporation from 2010 to 2011. For the preceding two years, he was a principal technologist at WFINT after serving as E-911 systems and RF engineer V at AT&T Mobility from 2006 to 2008 and regional test manager and senior staff engineer at TruePosition from 2004 to 2006. Between 2000 and 2004, he worked as a consultant and director of network operations at All Com LLC, Nextel Alaska, while simultaneously serving as a consultant and director of engineering at All Com Inc.
Mr. Edmondson's early career includes roles such as senior systems engineer at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. from 1999 to 2000 and systems engineer at New Horizons Telecom, Inc. from 1997 to 1999. He was also a senior cellular engineer at MacTel, Inc., Alaska Communications, a telecommunications engineering consultant, an engineer at South Central Radio, Inc., a chief engineer at Olympic Broadcasting Services and an operator technician at Langston Broadcasting Corporation.
Mr. Edmondson's educational background includes numerous certifications that underscore his expertise in telecommunications. His certifications from Motorola include Airgen, BPX/MGX Applications, Disaster Recovery, ESMR DMS SS-7 Translations and MSO Operations. He also holds Autotune BTS Antennas from Andrew, FibeAir 1500P Microwave Radio Maintenance and IP-10 and RFU-C Microwave Radio Maintenance, both from Ceragon Radio, SS-7 Networking from Belcore and Telecommunications Facilities Hardening and EMP Suppression from FEMA, among many others.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Edmondson is actively involved in mentoring college students and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He also engages in public speaking engagements to educate diverse audiences about different technologies and volunteers by working with liaison staff of law enforcement agencies.
Mr. Edmondson's contributions to international telecommunications have been recognized with several awards. Notably, he received the Global Star Award for his exceptional efforts while stationed in Italy to establish their ground station. In addition to this, he is very proud of his ability to resolve critical issues during equipment failures in France by coordinating recoveries with stations in Switzerland and Italy.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Edmondson enjoys amateur astronomy and amateur radio. He is currently engaged in consulting work and plans to establish a consulting office in the Netherlands in the future.
