For the past 25 years, Ms. Nelson has served as the executive director of the Grace Therapeutic Horse Program, where she assists clients with the help of a dedicated group of volunteers. She holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing, which she earned from Pacific Lutheran University in 1981, as well as an EAGALA certification from the National Certification for Horse Therapy. As a result of her training, Ms. Nelson is an expert in making connections with children and adults alike, a skill that has earned her significant recognition in her field.

Moreover, it has allowed her to navigate her professional and personal life as a leader and innovator in a world of differing perspectives.
Coupled with her involvement in the equine space, Ms. Nelson participates in various civic associations and volunteer efforts. She is actively engaged with recovery programs, prison ministries, and local law enforcement initiatives. As a part-time trauma nurse, she can fully understand grief, trauma and those that suffer from PTSD. For over 20 years she worked on the streets with drug addicts and homeless of downtown Portland. Ms. Nelson's dedication to helping others also includes working with Mother Theresa in Calcutta; Ms. Nelson volunteered in her outreach ministries and her orphanage. It was here that she learned the skills from Mother Theresa as to how to give back unselfishly and reach out to others.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Nelson enjoys spending time with horses at the barn and farm as well as with her family. Over the next several years, she is determined to expand her volunteering efforts and emerge as a prominent figure in philanthropy. Ultimately, her goal is to foster healing and spread joy in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and help individuals discover happiness in their lives.
