Since 2022, Mr. Russell has overseen day-to-day operations to ensure high-quality care and excellent customer service while striving to change the culture and counter negative stereotypes associated with nursing homes. Prior to his current role, he served as the facility administrator at Puget Sound Kidney Center in Seattle, Washington from 2021 to 2022. Before that, he held multiple positions at Glenvue Health and Rehabilitation in Glennville, Georgia, including administrator from 2020 to 2021, assistant administrator from 2019 to 2020 and administrator in training in 2019. Additionally, he held the title of interim administrator at Dublinair Health & Rehab in Dublin, Georgia in 2020.
Mr. Russell's earlier career included roles such as director of admissions and business operations at Landmark Hospital of Savannah from 2018 to 2019, director of admissions at Abercorn Rehabilitation Center from 2017 to 2018 and director of marketing and admissions at Glenvue Health and Rehabilitation, from 2014 to 2017. Before venturing into the health care sector, he first gained professional experience in financial-focused roles. From 2012 to 2015, he owned CommonCents Bookkeeping Services LLC and concurrently held the position of assistant director at Southern Choices LLC from 2011 to 2014 and payroll accountant at Horne & Associates PC from 2009 to 2012. Moreover, he worked as a financial officer at the Law Office of Charles W. Cook PC from 2006 to 2009.
All in all, Mr. Russell's diverse background has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of both health care administration and financial management. Moreover, his strong work ethic and care for others are values that continue to drive his dedication to improving the lives of those under his care. Mr. Russell attributes these strong values to his parents as well as his first administrator at Glenvue Health and Rehabilitation, Danny Lynn. He holds a Master of Business Administration in health care administration from South University, which he earned in 2012 after obtaining a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Brewton-Parker College in 2009. Along with his degrees, he is licensed as a nursing home administrator, an assisted living community administrator and a personal care home administrator by the State of Georgia.
Since 2022, Mr. Russell has served as both secretary and vice-president for the Georgia Chapter of the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA). Additionally, he is a member of the executive committee for the Coastal Healthcare Coalition (Region J), has served on the board of trustees for the Savannah Business Group since 2023, and a member of the Georgia Health Care Association (GHCA) since 2019. For his contributions, Mr. Russell has been recognized through various awards, including the Alumni Achievement Award from South University in 2024, being named one of Georgia Trend Magazine's "40 Under Forty" in 2023 and receiving the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Award from ACHCA that same year. Most recently, his nursing home was voted Connect Savannah Magazine's 2024 Best of Savannah for Best Senior Living, received the GHCA 2024 Terry J. Bryant Media Award, and nominated Best of Georgia for Transitional Care and Rehabilitation hosted by Georgia Business Journal.
