She founded Modern Family Children's Books in 2013, where she published several works, including "My Daddy Lives in California" in 2014, "We're Moving!" in 2014, and "We Are Family" in 2015. These publications reflect her dedication to addressing contemporary family dynamics and providing valuable resources for children.
Dr. Dabney's career also included positions as an adjunct faculty member at Stark State College from 2008 to 2011 and as an associate lecturer and instructional designer at the University of Akron during the same period. Earlier in her career, she served as a computer teacher in the business department at DePorres Catholic High School between 1995 and 2005. Dr. Dabney's extensive experience in various educational roles has solidified her reputation as an expert in education.
In preparation for her career in the classroom, Dr. Dabney began her academic journey with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University in 1979. She furthered her education by earning a Master of Education from Marygrove College in 2006 and culminated her academic achievements with a Doctor of Education from Walden University in 2012.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Dabney is actively involved in civic-minded organizations. She volunteers at local nursing homes as a jazz vocalist, playing jazz and classical piano bringing joy and comfort to residents through her musical talents.
In recognition of her accomplishments, Dr. Dabney holds the titles of Ms. Senior Mesquite and Ms. Senior Nevada 2024 and serves as an ambassador to the city, participating in ribbon cuttings and attending various city activities.
