Before teaching, Mr. Uto-Uko was the dean of students at Kailua Elementary School from 2018 to 2019. His tenure at the school was preceded by his position as a professional educator with the Hawaii Department of Education in Honolulu from 2017 to 2018. He also worked as a classroom teacher at GanYerushalayim Community School and as an operational educational director at the First Chinese Church of Christ, both located in Honolulu, in 2017. Among other teaching roles, Mr. Uto-Uko began his journey in San Jose, California, in 2009 as a course instructor at Grace Community Center and in Milpitas, California, as an instructor and after-school leader at Rose Elementary from 2009 to 2010.
Besides his focus on education, Mr. Uto-Uko was active as a program assistant with the U.S. Army in Honolulu in 2018, showcasing his diverse skill set and commitment to service. He also became involved in creative endeavors. He is the founder, writer and entrepreneur behind Box Man Comics in Silicon Valley, California, a venture he started in 2011. His literary contributions include authoring "Box Man" via Robertson Publishing in 2011.

Mr. Uto-Uko is also an active member of several professional organizations. He is the founding director of the Hawaii Black Educator Association and a member of the National Educators Association, the Hawaii State Teacher Association, and the National Council of Teachers of English.
Mr. Uto-Uko's educational contributions have been recognized with awards such as the Belford F. Lawson Oratorical Award from Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity's Arkansas district in 2002. Throughout his career, he has also been recognized for his dedication to education and impact on students' lives. He takes great pride in receiving letters and messages from former students expressing their gratitude for his positive influence on them. Looking ahead, Mr. Uto-Uko aims to develop his single book into a series and is determined to further his education by pursuing a doctorate.
