Ms. Palombo is a registered nurse who dedicated her career to improving patient care, safety and customer service in the healthcare arena. Just before retiring, she worked for the department of Health and Human Services as a Nurse Surveyor. Prior to department of Health and Human Services she was recruited by Vituity, a leading multispecialty health care partnership, as a nurse consultant. Ms. Palombo served at Anaheim Memorial Medical Center as the Patient Safety Risk Manager. She started her career at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in the Emergency Department, as a registered nurse.
Leveraging over 45 years of professional success, Ms. Palombo began her career at Hoag Hospital in 1978, where she served as the director of emergency services for 25 years. In this role, she oversaw prehospital care, the emergency department, acute dialysis, nurse staffing and house supervisors. During this tenure, Ms. Palombo's most significant achievement was effectively eliminating diversion from the emergency department through the implementation of comprehensive systems and processes. This included introducing pods with registered nurses and physician staffing, assigning a provider and nurse at triage and establishing a new program encompassing all aspects of the process. These efforts garnered significant recognition and improved patient and physician access.
In 2003, Ms. Palombo transitioned to Anaheim Memorial Medical Center as a patient safety risk manager responsible for customer service. She brought her extensive experience from the emergency department to this role, encouraging staff to reach out to her when incidents occurred and implementing a system for patient safety concerns to be reported by phone directly to Ms. Palombo. This position was held by Ms. Palombo for three years before being recruited by CEP America (now Vituity) as a nurse consultant. In this capacity, she traveled across the country to resolve problems and improve patient care systems in the emergency department.
To prepare for her career in health care, Ms. Palombo received an Associate Degree in Nursing from Rio Hondo College and a Bachelor of Science in health care management from the University of La Verne.
Ms. Palombo's dedication to her profession was evident in her commitment to continuous improvement and patient safety. Her strong work ethic and passion for helping people have driven her success. Often away from home for 12 hours a day or more, she always prioritized patient safety and exceptional customer service.
