In 1997 she assumed the role of rehabilitation admissions and marketing representative at WakeMed Rehabilitation Hospital. She later transitioned to the role of case manager where she coordinated patient care plans and facilitated communication between patients and healthcare providers. She developed and managed the Denial Management Program with successful overturning of claims denials. She progressed within the organization to become supervisor of Patient Access and finally the manager of Patient Access, where she oversaw patient admission processes and improved operational efficiencies. Ms. Uy's extensive experience in various roles has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare operations and regulatory compliance. Subsequently, she was honored with an Outstanding Employee Award for her exceptional contributions to the workplace.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Uy received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, cum laude, from Velez School of Nursing in the Philippines in 1985. Ms. Uy's hard work was recognized when she received a top rank in the nursing board exam in the Philippines. Her dedication to continuous learning is evident through her numerous credentials, including certification in Health Care Compliance from the Health Care Compliance Association in 2017, Epic ADT and hospital revenue cycle readiness through Epic in 2013, Six Sigma Black Belt from Vanderbilt University in 2010 and as a Certified Case Manager through Case Management Society of America.
