Before his current position, Mr. Johnson was an educator at Perry Street Prep from 2011 to 2014. In addition to teaching, his versatility has been demonstrated through his work as a wedding consultant for The Ministry for You LLC since 2012, where he notably officiated over 40 weddings in 2020 despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, Mr. Johnson has been the music minister at Courts of Praise Christian Church since 2008.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Johnson was a music minister at Christ Church Way of the Cross from 2019 to 2021. His musical talents were also showcased during his tenure as a musician at Galilee Baptist Church between 2013 and 2015 and at Corinthian Baptist Church from 2013 to 2014. Minister Johnson was a clinician and facilitator of workshops for youth in the early 2000s with churches in Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. He taught young musicians and singers and helped them cultivate their God-given gifts to use in worship services.
Mr. Johnson is highly educated, having earned a degree from University of Delaware: Human Services, Education and Public Policy, with a concentration in Education and Community Services and Minor in History, and a master's degree in Christian studies from Faith Christian University in 2008. His academic achievements have been complemented by several certifications, including pastoral counseling certification from the American Association of Christian Counselors and elder designations from the National Association Council of Community Churches of America & Elsewhere Inc. and Ark United Christian Community Churches International. Furthermore, Mr. Johnson is certified as a counselor by the Board of Christian Professional and Pastoral Counselors.
He has served in various capacities for his fraternity including head chairperson for committees and secretarial positions for his local chapter within Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He is currently the assistant area director for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., He also holds position as a provost for Revealing Joshua Life Academy and as a vice president on the board of directors for Positive Outlook Guidance Services. Additionally, Mr. Johnson is associated with the Bearded Santa Association and IBRDS.
In light of his success in the classroom, Mr. Johnson was named the Teacher of the Year by KIPP DC Public Schools in 2023. He credits his upbringing in a small town in Delaware to much of his success, as it was inspired by solid family figures and community elders who predicted his future in ministry. Initially aspiring to work in banking during high school, Mr. Johnson shifted his focus to education during college. His journey through different teaching roles eventually led him to discover his passion for music education.
As he prepares for the future, Mr. Johnson aims to transition out of the classroom and explore various other educational job opportunities. He aspires to become a higher-education counselor or advisor, leveraging his extensive experience to support students in navigating their academic journeys. Furthermore, Mr. Johnson envisions turning his side ventures into full-time occupations while pursuing passive income opportunities that allow him to follow his passion.
