Prior to his current position, Mr. Young was the senior health, safety and environment regional manager at Wabash National Corporation. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in policy development and strategy implementation, which allowed him to effectively drive health and safety improvement initiates. From 2015 to 2019, he served as the health, safety and environment manager at PepsiCo, where he further honed his skills in managing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with federal and state health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Mr. Young's career began as a plant safety engineer at Honda Motor Manufacturing of Indiana in 2011. He subsequently moved on to become a safety supervisor at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles from 2012 to 2014. These early roles provided him with a solid tactical foundation in occupational safety and health. Additionally, he founded the Young Safety and Consulting Group in 2023, where he continues to share his expertise in health and safety and environmental sustainability.
Academically, Mr. Young holds an MBA from Indiana University Kokomo and a Bachelor of Science in Safety Science from Indiana University Bloomington. He attributes much of his success to his grandmother, his family, and his overall village, who all played critical roles in his life as child and raised him during a challenging time when many inner-city families faced significant hardships. His Grandmother's resilience and dedication have been a constant source of motivation for Mr. Young throughout his life.
Outside of his professional achievements, Mr. Young is actively involved in civic organizations. He is a proud graduate of the Diversity in Leadership Program , which aims to prepare future minorities for advances in their careers and overall business endeavors and supports his local church and community through various volunteer efforts. These activities reflect his commitment to giving back and inspiring others.
In his personal life, Mr. Young enjoys spending time with his family. He is an avid football fan who also loves cooking, traveling, coaching, music and theater. In his present capacity, he is committed to devising a durable long-term plan that facilitates the concrete assessment of health and safety performance. He utilizes data as a tool to enact change, with the ultimate goal being the enhancement of health, safety, and wellness for all colleagues.
