Dr. Petric is lauded for her work in clinical drug development, whose career spans several decades. In 2019, she became the executive director of global drug development and head of clinical science immunology at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. In this capacity, she has reviewed documents related to protocols, investigational drug brochures and clinical study reports. Dr. Petric has also assessed strategic analysis plans, statistical analysis plans and clinical development plans that outlined how drugs were to be developed. Her leadership was particularly notable during the COVID-19 pandemic when she spearheaded the development of the clinical science department in immunology, integrating programs from heritage companies and fostering collaboration among team members despite the challenges of remote work.
Initially recruited by Celgene Corporation (now Bristol-Myers Squibb Company) in 2012, Dr. Petric was the director of clinical research and development from 2012 to 2019, where she managed multiple projects and teams. Subsequently, she became the executive director of clinical research and development between 2012 and 2019, leading various clinical research initiatives and contributing significantly to the company's drug development strategies.
Dr. Petric's earlier years in the field included a position as a project team leader with Hoechst Marion Roussel Inc., Aventis, from 1994 to 2001 and as a clinical team leader with Hoffmann-La Roche between 2001 and 2012. This early exposure allowed her to develop her skills in people management and clinical drug development, ultimately leading to her current level of expertise.
Highly educated, Dr. Petric received a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from the University of Toronto, a Master of Science in pharmacology and toxicology from Western University and a Doctor of Philosophy in pharmacology and therapeutics from McGill University. Her academic background has been instrumental in her professional achievements, providing a solid foundation for her clinical science and immunology expertise.
Outside of her career, Dr. Petric is actively involved in civic-minded organizations, such as the Roxbury Public Library, where she frequently volunteers. She is also excited about volunteering and sharing her knowledge through consulting and collaborating with various organizations, such as Feima. In retirement Dr. Petric is applying her research and development skills to her horticultural pursuits.
