After practicing there for six years, she transitioned into a new role in dental fraud investigation at Cotiviti. Her expertise in identifying and investigating suspicious billing practices by providers laid the foundation for her subsequent roles in claims management with insurance companies.
In 2014, Ms. Otuafi joined Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey, as Manager of Dental Claims and Data Quality, where she managed quality assurance and the institution's clinical affairs. Her tenure at Rutgers was marked by significant improvements in data quality and operational efficiency. In 2019, she returned to Nevada and accepted a role consulting for the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners. Additionally, she worked as the Manager of Compliance & Education for Rock Dental Brands, overseeing compliance across approximately 100 locations spanning the Midwest to Florida.
Ms. Otuafi's academic achievements include a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2010 and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Weber State University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and ranked among the top three in her class. She holds certifications as a certified dental coder, Reid Interview techniques for Internal Investigators, and a Registered Dental Hygienist.
Throughout her career, Ms. Otuafi has been recognized for her clinical excellence, receiving the Clinical Excellence Award from Weber State University's Dental Hygiene Program in 2004. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, reflecting her commitment to academic and professional excellence.
Born in Reno, NV, Ms. Otuafi is a proud mother of three daughters. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys outdoor activities and swimming with humpback whales.
