    WOODBRIDGE, VA, October 02, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David P. Garner, MBA, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Mr. Garner has been an independent consultant with Garner Global Consulting, a role he held from 2013- 2022, In this capacity, he leveraged his extensive experience in defense logistics and international cooperation to provide expert advice and support to various clients. His work focused on modernizing logistics systems and fostering multinational collaboration, particularly within the framework of NATO.

Prior to that role, Mr. Garner served as a senior fellow at the Logistics Management Institute (LMI) from 1989 to 2013. During his tenure there, he played a pivotal role in defense-related projects, including developing unclassified presentations during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm to highlight logistic challenges. In early 1996, he observed NATO's use of multinational logistics in Bosnia, Croatia, and Hungary in NATO's first military operation, implementation of the Dayton Accords in the Balkans. From 1996 to 2006, he and his team supported the U.S. Department of Defense by developing seminars on operational multinational logistics and providing them to 19 of NATO's Partnerships for Peace nations to enhance their viability of becoming NATO members. In addition, his efforts included modernizing logistics in the Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan while also assisting Georgia in its bid to join NATO. Additionally, he worked with Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic to implement NATO's defense capabilities initiatives following their admission to NATO. In 2000/2001, Mr. Garner and his team conducted a study of NATO's strategic lift capabilities, resulting in NATO leasing 6 C-17s to meet airlift requirements.

Mr. Garner's career began in the military, where he retired as a colonel in the United States Marine Corps. He considered his most significant contribution to having served two combat tours in Vietnam, including 9 months as an artillery forward observer and commanding several artillery batteries during his second tour. After returning from his first tour in 1966, he was an instructor at the Army Field Artillery School, following which he participated in the Marine Corps special education program. This opportunity allowed him to attend Harvard University, where he earned a Master of Business Administration in organization development. His military career also included financial management tours at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia and at Marine Corps Headquarters. He concluded his career as a member of The Joint Staff Logistics Directorate, where he was often the senior logistician participating in several war games with the actual Regional Combatant Regional Commanders.

Mr. Garner's educational background also includes a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. In addition, he graduated "with distinction" from the U.S. Naval War College. He attributes his success to perseverance and the ability to work with diverse groups of people, building trust and understanding through his authoritative knowledge and relevant background.

Outside of his career, Mr. Garner has been actively involved in supporting his parishes throughout the years. For several years he has served as a small group leader for a men's group on Saturdays, has been a reader in his parishes for over 40 years, served as the vice-president of the first parish council in Lawton, Oklahoma; was instrumental in establishing the first parish council at his parish in Albany, Georgia, serving as its first president, and has served on the parish council at his current parish in Woodbridge, Virginia. In addition, he has served as chairman of the finance committee and coordinator of the Reader ministry for several years.

Mr. Garner has received numerous awards throughout his career, including being one of the first Americans to receive the Medal of Merit from the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration in 2013, the Bronze Star for Valor as a result of his actions in Vietnam, the Defense Superior Service Medal for his service on The Joint Staff, and several LMI President's Awards for his work in multinational logistics. He has also contributed presentations to the National Defense University.

In his leisure time, Mr. Garner enjoys a fulfilling personal life with his family. He regularly plays tennis and has had several of his letters to the editor of The Washington Post published on national defense subjects. Looking ahead, he remains committed to utilizing his extensive experience to foster effective collaborations.
