As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Driven by a passion for service, Dr. DeShore began her career in 1981 as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) after graduating from high school. While pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at SUNY Downstate Medical Center's College of Nursing, she joined the United States Air Force Reserves in 1983. Over the decades, Dr. DeShore continuously expanded her professional expertise, earning a Master of Science in Pediatric Advanced Practice Nursing and a post-master's certificate in Nursing Education from the University of Maryland, and a Master of Public Affairs from the American University School of Public Affairs.

Throughout her 28-year career in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and 22-years as a federal civil servant, Dr. DeShore held numerous leadership positions, including Director of the Pediatric Moderate Sedation Program, the Exceptional Family Members Program, and the Family Member Travel Screening Program with the Department of the Army. She later transitioned to the Department of Pediatrics, where she oversaw several special projects, and also served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.

Retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, Lt. Col. DeShore served in several senior medical positions, delivering exceptional healthcare to military personnel. In her final assignment before retiring in May 2015, she served as Chief Nurse Executive at the 908th Aeromedical Staging Squadron at Maxwell AFB, AL. In this role, she led the Nursing Services section and managed the public health programs for 1,300 wing personnel, ensuring a healthy and fit military force.

Never one to rest on her accomplishments, Dr. DeShore returned to academia after retiring from the USAFR, earning a Doctor of Health Administration and a graduate certificate in International Health from Central Michigan University. Leveraging her extensive experience, she now serves as an Associate Adjunct Faculty member for Central Michigan University's Doctor of Health Administration and Master of Health Administration programs, as well as a Contributing Faculty member at Walden University, providing dissertation committee service.

To stay current with industry advancements, Dr. DeShore is actively involved with professional organizations, including the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the Maryland Organization of Nurse Leaders, Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, among others. In her retirement, she continues to serve her community as President of the Windsor Mill Homeowners Association and President of the Doctor of Health Administration Alumni and Student Network Board of Directors at Central Michigan University.

Due to her vast breadth of knowledge, Dr. DeShore served as co-editor and author in an academic book titled, "COVID-19 Global Pandemic: The World Responds," through Sentia Publishing. In light of her professional achievements, she received Defense Health Agency, Outstanding Award for Civilian Service, the Patient and Family Centered Care Staff Action of Excellence Award, and Master Clinician Recognition, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes immense pride in sharing her extensive knowledge and expertise in nursing and health administration with the next generation of healthcare professionals in civilian and military medicine. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, she credits her success to the values instilled in her by her parents and their unending support. Looking ahead, Dr. DeShore aims to update her book on COVID-19 and serving in academic roles.
