With a career spanning over a decade, Mr. Lee is a distinguished professional in the field of electronic data interchange (EDI) and health care. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Simplify EDI Healthcare LLC, a position he has held since 2021. In this role, Mr. Lee handles various responsibilities—such as managing unpaid invoices, analyzing data to identify issues, developing automated tools to streamline processes and conducting biannual reassessments for clients—and his expertise in computer programming, building custom tools and automation has been instrumental in his success.
Prior to founding Simplify EDI Healthcare, Mr. Lee served as a senior Lawson EDI consultant at ROI Healthcare Solutions LLC from 2016 to 2021. During his tenure, he was recognized as Employee of the Year in 2016. Before that, he worked independently as an automation consultant from 2015 to 2016. Mr. Lee began his professional journey as a business analyst at Sallie Mae, where he worked from 2006 to 2011, before enjoying a significant role as lead business process automation at Indiana University Health from 2011 to 2015. While there, he developed pioneering processes for EDI—one that has since become standard in the health care sector.
Mr. Lee holds both a Bachelor of Computer Science in game design programming from Full Sail University, which he completed in 2006, and an associate degree in computer science from Ivy Tech Community College, which he obtained in 2003. Overall, his academic pursuits and achievements laid a strong foundation for his career, enabling him to excel in data-driven tasks and reporting.
As a result of his career contributions, Mr. Lee has achieved numerous accolades. With the help of his custom tools, IU Health went up in rank from 350 to 11th in the US on the GHX Performance Ranking Report for item discrepancy management. This was in 2014 before many other prestigious health systems achieved it. He was also nominated by his professor for the Greatest Achiever Award in Final Project class in 2006. Additionally, he won the Best in Show Team Project and Best Individual Game Design awards from Dustin Clingman in 2004. In reflecting on his accomplishments, Mr. Lee attributes his success to his unwavering focus and ambition.
Despite facing personal challenges, such as losing his sight due to a genetic disease, Mr. Lee has remained dedicated to his work. His journey into the EDI field began when he lost his driver's license as a result of his genetic disease and sought a new job that did not require driving. After initially being hired as a data analyst with no prior experience in EDI, he quickly mastered the field and significantly improved his company's ranking in merely two years.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Lee enjoys hiking, playing video games and board games, developing software to help others, traveling and engaging in the arts. Additionally, he is becoming more involved in the visually impaired community and is currently learning braille. Notably, he has developed a braille trainer designed as a game that motivates users with the prospect of earning points.
