In 2010, Mr. Bareng co-founded a high school architectural internship program for the Porterville Unified School District with his colleague, Mr. Clayton Taylor, empowering students to take ownership of projects while working with real clients. Mr. Bareng expanded the program through extensive partnerships with public and private sectors, including local school districts, businesses, and national organizations like ConnectED, Linked Learning Alliance, and NAF, completing notable student design projects including a universally accessible playground, an education-healthcare facility, homeless shelters, and an outdoor education facility working with clients such as the Army Corps of Engineers, City of Porterville, Porterville Sheltered Workshop, Rotary Club, and the Tulare County Office of Education. The additional partnership with the College of Architecture & Environmental Design at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, under the direction of professor, Thomas Fowler, was crucial in connecting high school students with college. In 2014, Mr. Bareng played a key role in securing a $15 million grant from the California Career Pathways Trust to expand Linked Learning opportunities, and he authored an article, 'Linked Learning Gaining Momentum', published in the Visalia Times-Delta, describing the significance of this investment which was the largest in the county at that time. Since its establishment, this program impacted over 500 high school students. Mr. Bareng continues to integrate this engagement in his future projects through Bareng Corporation.
In light of Mr. Bareng's success in architecture and education, he received numerous accolades, including the National Advisory Board Champion Award from NAF for his leadership in education and for his innovative internship program.
Mr. Bareng was honored with the Architectural Portfolio and Educational Interiors Showcase Award by American School & University Magazine's SchoolDesigns for his design of a Gaming and Simulations Pathway high school facility. His innovative approach integrated elements inspired by the video game Tetris into the building's components.
Mr. Bareng prepared for his career by obtaining a Bachelor of Architecture degree from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, earned his California architect license in 2012, and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, one of the most prestigious credentials in the architecture industry. His dedication to civic engagement is evident through his roles as an advisory board member of nearly a dozen California public school districts. He served for several educational initiatives including the Linked Learning Alliance Employer Council, NAF Advisory Board Leadership Group, and chair for INNOVATE Tulare-Kings, whose purpose is to improve the alignment between education and industry needs. In alignment with the mission of Bareng Corporation, Mr. Bareng continues to lead through his professional affiliations with the American Institute of Architects, the Urban Land Institute, and serve on his local school site council boards for his children.
Mr. Bareng is working toward a graduate certification in real estate investment from Harvard Extension School. He also received multiple executive education certifications in real estate development, finance, investment, strategic data analysis, and affordable housing from Harvard Graduate School of Design Executive Education. Through this experience, he gained a partnership with the Affordable Housing Institute, who plays a critical role in his pursuit of providing quality spaces for public and private environments.
