Ms. Wilson is the executive director of YOU Life Skills and Leadership Educational Foundation, a nonprofit organization in San Bernardino County, California, dedicated to helping teenagers and young adults communicate effectively and develop leadership skills in their communities.
Working alongside her husband since 2021, she has led the foundation in providing workshops for parents and youth and professional development for teachers. Initially a for-profit for two years before its transition, Ms. Wilson successfully initiated a program that integrated identity into English classes, developing a three-year curriculum focused on life skills and leadership which students eagerly took home to use with their families. This program, which she initially marketed and provided herself, is now taught by the teachers she trains, and is facilitated by graduates of her programs. She recently returned from Tanzania, where her YOU Life Skills and Leadership programs helped teenagers learn skills to help strengthen their communities. Her program will continue to be an integral part of her education in Tanzanian public schools.
Before launching her foundation, Ms. Wilson spent two decades working with children as a teacher at San Bernardino High School. Her teaching career began in 2001.
Ms. Wilson's dedication to education is reflected in her academic achievements. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and language arts teacher education from California State University in San Bernardino and a Master of Education in educational and instructional technology from Walden University. Additionally, she holds a California teaching credential and earned several certifications from Take Flight Learning, including BirdBrains Inc., Taking Flight with EQ, Taking Flight with DISC and ReDISCovering Conflict.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. Wilson is an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the California Teachers Association, California Retired Teachers Association, and California Association of Teachers of English. Equally committed to religious and charitable initiatives, she is involved with the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also recently returned from Tanzania, where she helped teenagers strengthen their communities.
Ms. Wilson is the author of "Know Yourself: How to Enjoy an Authentic Life." She is working on her second book and plans to finish a third.
