Henry S. Hui, PE, PMP, serves as the Corporate Vice President of Hydrogen Strategy and Energy Infrastructure at Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases

A highlight of his career was his pivotal leadership in a high-stakes project to upgrade and complete a liquid nitrogen storage and regasification facility at Vandenberg Air Force Base.

RICHMOND, TX, October 04, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Henry S. Hui, a visionary and leading expert in hydrogen strategy and energy infrastructure, has been honored with inclusion in Marquis Who's Who for his outstanding contributions to engineering. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Well-regarded for his strategic acumen in business development, project execution, and product management, Mr. Hui draws on over 25 years of experience in chemical engineering, industrial gases, and energy storage. As the Corporate Vice President of Hydrogen Strategy and Energy Infrastructure at Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases, he has been instrumental in advancing the hydrogen value chain through innovative deployment of cryogenic equipment, liquefaction, and refueling technologies. In this role, he supports the CEO and Presidents across six divisions, leveraging his extensive expertise in project development, execution, and commercialization.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Hui served as the Hydrogen Director for Integrated Cryogenic Solutions at Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases. His tenure at Airgas Inc., an Air Liquide company, saw him excel as the Director of Special Projects, Complex Systems Engineering Manager, and Senior Design Authority. His earlier career includes significant roles at GE Power & Water, The Linde Group Inc., and BOC Gases, beginning in 1997.

A notable highlight of Mr. Hui's career was his pivotal leadership in a high-stakes project to upgrade and complete a liquid nitrogen storage and regasification facility at Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA. This project was notable not only for its technical complexity but also for its timing during heightened tensions between North Korea and the United States. Despite numerous challenges, including those posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Hui led a team of cross-functional experts to retrofit the facility with a safer and more reliable pipeline system. This system is crucial for supplying high-pressure nitrogen to the fuel tank inerting systems and maintaining safe environments for heavy-lift launch vehicles. His leadership ensured the ahead-of-schedule delivery of the integrated nitrogen system, enabling the successful launch of United Launch Alliance (ULA)'s Delta IV Heavy on April 26, 2021, on the first attempt. This launch was vital for the NROL-82 mission, conducted for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), as part of a series of classified national security payloads designed to enhance U.S. reconnaissance capabilities.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Hui has enriched industry knowledge with publications like "Charting the Path to a Hydrogen Economy for a Sustainable Tomorrow" (2024). He played a crucial role in the successful commercialization of GE's Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), driving innovation and market adoption. Mr. Hui also holds a patent for the "Method and System for Liquefaction Monitoring" (Patent number: 6915660). This innovation enhances process safety and optimization by accurately assessing and reporting the liquefaction status of gases in piping systems through the collection and analysis of pressure and temperature data.

Mr. Hui studied chemical engineering at North Carolina State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1997 and a Master of Engineering in 2002. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds a Project Management Professional certification. As a dedicated member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Project Management Institute, and the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Partnership, Mr. Hui is passionate about advancing the hydrogen economy. He collaborates with industry partners, government agencies, and academic institutions to develop innovative and sustainable solutions in the clean energy sector.

Looking forward, Mr. Hui aims to inspire the next generation of engineers to engage with the clean energy sector. He is committed to mentoring young professionals and is considering board roles to share his expertise and foster sustainable innovations in the industry.
