BETHANY, OK, October 07, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wesley Clay Lee, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Lee, a researcher and academician in psychology, currently serves as the interim Vice President of Academic Affairs at Southwestern Christian University (SCU). In this role since 2023, he manages the day-to-day academic operations and functions as the interim Chief Academic Officer. He also chaired the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the university from 2018 to 2023 as a Professor of Psychology. With a career spanning more than 25 years, he has made significant contributions to his academic discipline.

Concurrent with his roles at SCU, Dr. Lee is a Professor Emeritus and Dissertation Chair at Southern Nazarene University (SNU). His tenure at SNU includes positions as an Associate Professor and an Assistant Professor while Director of Academic Services in the Center for Student Success from 2008 until 2018. He served as University Registrar from 2001 till 2008 and Associate Registrar while an Adjunct Professor at Large from 1999 to 2001. In addition to his academic roles, he has a diverse professional history that includes working as a licensed Nuclear Reactor Operator for Entergy Corporation, where he worked from 1980 until 1994.

Dr. Lee's educational background has been instrumental in his professional achievements, providing a solid foundation for his roles in Christian higher education and psychology. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with minors in physics and biology, from Southern Nazarene University in 1997, followed by a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from the same institution. He later earned a Doctor of Psychology with a specialization in Health Psychology from Northcentral University in 2018.

Dr. Lee is also an active member of several organizations including the American Psychological Association, Kiwanis International, Psi Chi, Society for Pentecostal Studies, and American Mensa. He is the Honorary President of the Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology. He has contributed significantly to his community through various civic associations through his involvement in fundraising efforts to support underprivileged children nationally and internationally.

A prolific writer, Dr. Lee is a published researcher; he co-edited a medical psychology textbook and has contributed to other books in addition to being a co-author of 10 articles in professional journals. However, his most notable accomplishments are evidenced in the lives of university students. He believes that motivational counseling is an effective means of bolstering resilience in his students, some from impoverished and abusive backgrounds, who want to overcome personal challenges.

Dr. Lee attributes his success to an unwavering faith in God and mentoring by his childhood pastor, John A. Kendrick, who was also a former university professor. Born into a middle-class family, his parents emphasized the importance of a strong work ethic and education. He learned at a young age that perseverance is an intrinsic quality of those who truly succeed in life. He draws inspiration from such writers as J. I. Packer, Henri Nouwen, and Viktor Frankl.

Looking ahead, Dr. Lee plans to research factors that influence life satisfaction of individuals in the golden years of their lives and professional careers. He is especially interested in the low prevalence of dementia of older populations living in blue zones.
