WAYCROSS, GA, October 09, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael-Angelo James, EdD, mayor of the City of Waycross, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the Atlanta, Georgia, regional edition of Bloomberg Businessweek.
Dr. Michael-Angelo James is distinguished for his longstanding tenure in the field of public service. Since 2020, he has served his community as mayor of the City of Waycross, where he takes immense pride in helping to make Waycross a safe, accessible and equitable place to live. More recently, Dr. James and his local government associates received a $2.2 million grant to upgrade the City of Waycross' parks and recreation centers. In this regard, the grant will aid in the renovation of Garlington Park, Bailey Park and Elizabeth Park. Equipped with a people-centric approach, Dr. James looks forward to helping the youth remain engaged in their communities.
Outside of his efforts in public office, Dr. James has also served as a professor of sociology at Coastal Pines Technical College since 2018, a bishop at Emmanuel's International Cathedral since 1990, and a chancellor at Emmanuel's Bible College since 2009. Furthermore, he has been recognized as a pastor for more than three decades. Earlier in his career, Dr. James served as the vice president of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of the Georgia Youth Convention and was a social studies teacher and assistant principal at both Ware County High School and Waycross High School. Civically involved, he served as a program quality director of District 14 of the Toastmasters Club, a coach of the Jonesboro Toastmasters, the director of Area H82 and Area H83, and the charter president, mentor and member of the President's Distinguished Swamp Talk.
Adjacent to his professional career, Dr. James is a prolific author, having written three books thus far. In 2003, he published the book "Trusting God to Supply Your Need: Perspectives on Exercising Your Faith." The following year, he penned "Leader, Can You Stand the Test." Most recently, in 2010, he authored "Just Because God Said It: A Journal of Prophetic Predictions and Pronouncements." Looking toward the future, Dr. James endeavors to continue his work helping the youth of his community, particularly teaching young students the significance of vocational placement and performance.
Dr. James pursued a formal education at Troy State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in education in 1988. Following this achievement, he enrolled at Valdosta State University and received a Master of Education in secondary education and teaching in 1993. In 1999, he concluded his edification, receiving a Doctor of Christian Education from the Truth Bible College.
Considering his outstanding accomplishments, Dr. James has received several accolades. Named Georgia Man of the Year, he also earned the Jack Williams Community Service Award from the Waycross Chamber of Commerce. Likewise, he was the recipient of the Distinguished Toastmaster Award in 2020 and the Distinguished Kiwanian Award in 2019.
