Ms. Lang received a $1,000 classroom grant from the assistant superintendent, who cited Ms. Lang as among the best teachers he had encountered and commented on her leadership prowess.
AURORA, CO, October 09, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Heidi A. Lang, dean and educational consultant with McGlone Academy, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the Denver, Colorado, regional edition of Vogue magazine.
Heidi A. Lang has leveraged more than 15 years of professional experience in education to apply to her work as the dean of culture at McGlone Academy, an extension of Denver Public Schools that maintains alignment with the Montbello Children's Network and works to empower staff, students and families by addressing and closing gaps in equitable access to education. As dean of the elementary and middle school since 2019, Ms. Lang specializes in school-wide behavioral systems, multi-tiered support systems, social-emotional learning curriculum and trauma-informed practices. In addition, she is responsible for coaching other deans through protocol modeling for addressing and de-escalating challenging behavior, leading her school's SEL team and coaching teachers on classroom management strategies.
Adjacent to her primary role at McGlone Academy, Ms. Lang is an educational consultant through her eponymous business, Heidi A. Lang Educational Consultant, LLC, in Denver, Colorado. To wit, she received training from an educational consultant during her first year as dean, who mentored Ms. Lang on tiered behavior interventions, restorative practices and behavioral data documentation, among other subjects, to facilitate professional development. Noting that deans do not often receive specialized training in academic settings, Ms. Lang has expressed gratitude for her mentor, and she has utilized her skillsets to provide comprehensive support for teachers and the student body.
Earlier, Ms. Lang served as the dean of Roots Elementary School, having formerly served as a teacher at numerous schools throughout Colorado and New Mexico, such as Columbine Elementary School in Denver, Lavaland Elementary School in Albuquerque, and Cherry Drive Elementary School in Thornton, Colorado. During her tenure in New Mexico, Ms. Lang received a $1,000 classroom grant from the assistant superintendent, who cited Ms. Lang as among the best teachers he had encountered and commented on her leadership prowess.
Ms. Lang attributes her success to her steadfast commitment to self-reflection, emotional constancy and the value of connections over compliance, which have been instrumental in her success in managing challenging behaviors and solving complex problems. In the coming years, Ms. Lang endeavors to share her breadth of knowledge with more schools across the country to aid in their understanding of behavior issues and their tiered behavior systems of support.
Ms. Lang pursued a formal education at the University of Colorado Boulder, receiving a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2007. After earning her degree and accruing several years in her profession, she subsequently earned a master's degree in educational leadership, with honors, from the University of New England in 2014. She is also certified in elementary curriculum and instruction.
