SCHAUMBURG, IL, October 10, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Prem N. Mehrotra, president and chief executive officer of General Energy Corporation, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the Chicagoland regional edition of Entrepreneur magazine.
Originally from India, Prem N. Mehrotra arrived in the United States in 1970, after which he joined Sargent & Lundy, a leading provider of power and energy. Throughout his employment with the firm, he formed connections with numerous talented engineers from a variety of backgrounds, including coal, gas and nuclear energy. Mr. Mehrotra became heavily involved in energy efficiency efforts during this time, particularly in nuclear power.
Recognizing a need for better options in energy efficiency, Mr. Mehrotra co-founded Energy Resources + Planning Inc., for which he served as the senior vice president. From 1980 to 1985, the company made great strides in providing energy savings on behalf of its customers. Following this period, Mr. Mehrotra established the General Energy Corporation, for which he presently serves as president and chief executive officer. In this capacity, he has continued to develop energy-efficient engineering projects and pass down plentiful savings to his clients, including the University of Chicago and 25-30 local school districts.
Dedicated to environmental sustainability, Mr. Mehrotra has pursued various avenues in green and renewable energy sources, including solar power and wind farming. To remain aware of developments in his field, he has maintained affiliation with several relevant organizations, including the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, of which he is a lifetime member, and the Association of Energy Engineers, with which he is a fellow.

To culminate this positive energy and support his mental and physical health, Mr. Mehrotra has practiced yoga, pranayama and meditation for the last 50 years under the direction of the Himalayan International Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy, headquartered in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Looking toward the future, he aspires to continue his pursuits in developing energy-efficient engineering projects and availing himself on behalf of those in need.
Mr. Mehrotra studied information technology in India, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1960. Following this accomplishment, he attended the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, from which he received a master's degree in management in 1976.
Well-regarded for his accomplishments, Mr. Mehrotra has been bestowed with numerous national and regional awards. Among them, he received an Energy Efficiency Award from the American Society of Heating and Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers and the President's Lifetime Achievement Award for commitment to volunteer service from President Joesph Biden in 2022.
