Possessing more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Fernando Raudales is a distinguished leader in medicine. Specializing in nephrology, also known as the study and care of the kidneys, he has excelled as a nephrologist and consultant with El Paso Kidney Specialists since founding the medical practice in 1990. Congruent to this prominent role, he also serves in a myriad of other positions, such as the medical director for Central City Dialysis since 1993, the medical director for Transmountain Dialysis since 2013, and the medical director of transplant services at Las Palmas Medical Center since 2009. Likewise, recognized as a civic advocate and mentor in his community, he has worked at the Baptist Free Clinic since 2005.
Earlier in his career, while also thriving in his current appointments, Dr. Raudales notably served as the chief of staff at Providence Memorial Hospital in 1997 and from 2008 to 2009. He worked in the same capacity at Sierra Medical Center in 1998, having also served the medical clinic as chairperson of the department of internal medicine from 2001 to 2003 and the medical director of acute dialysis from 1991 to 2001. Furthermore, Dr. Raudales has been the co-chairperson of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee since 2003. Over the course of his career, he has lent his considerable expertise to scholarly efforts, having conducted research and disseminated his findings on hypertension in numerous medical journals.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Raudales pursued a formal education in his native Honduras, receiving a Bachelor of Science in 1970. Thereafter, he attended Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras Facultad de Ciencias Medicas, graduating summa cum laude with a Doctor of Medicine in 1979. Inspired wholly by his father and aunt – both physicians – during his formative years, Dr. Raudales credits much of his success to the guidance of his many mentors throughout his career. In the coming years, he aims to ease into a well-deserved retirement.
Accruing several accolades, Dr. Raudales was named the Best Medical Student at his alma mater upon his graduation. As his career progressed, he was recognized as a fellow of such organizations as the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Hypertension and the American Heart Association. Selected for inclusion in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, he was also featured in Forbes magazine in June/July 2023 in Austin, Texas, and highlighted on the cover of Marquis Who's Who Millennium Magazine.
