Lady Sylvia Frances Townley-Peeler is recognized for her expert leadership of the Putumayo Production Co.

TUCSON, AZ, October 10, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lady Sylvia Frances Townley-Peeler has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than five decades of excellence in accounting and travel, Ms. Townley-Peeler has earned distinction as the chairman and chief executive officer of the Putumayo Production Co., an oil and gas drilling company established by her husband in 1967. Since his passing in 2010, she has focused her efforts on making astute choices related to royalties and other company ventures and issuing directives for well drilling. She also oversees the acquisition of properties in proximity to well-drilling sites while managing her investments and engaging in trading activities. Likewise dedicated to civil advocacy, she has dedicated a significant portion of her life to volunteer work and philanthropic endeavors.

Prior to her current role, Lady Sylvia served as a supervisor within W. & R. Jacob in Liverpool, England, and after, Ms. Townley-Peeler was an office manager for Rupert Murdoch's "News of the World" for five years. Following this time, Lady Sylvia sponsored herself, emigrating to San Francisco. She became an underwriter for the Monarch Insurance Company of Ohio in 1965, and worked as a flight attendant from 1966 until retiring in 2007. During this period of her career, she worked with Pacific Airlines, Air West, Howard Hughes Air West, Republic, Northwest Airlines, ending with Delta Air Lines having held her date of hire seniority throughout.

Having embraced diversity throughout her life and valued the perspectives of others, Ms. Townley-Peeler was fearless in undertaking various challenges due to her extensive travel experiences. Historic interests led her to war torn countries such as North Korea into the "demilitarized zone"; walking across the very poignant Thailand Bridge on the River Kwai; Tinian Island in the Mariana Islands the Pacific Ocean, where the atomic bombs were loaded onto the B-29 airplanes "Enola Gay" and "Bock's Car" bringing WWII to its conclusion. Additionally, as a skilled entrepreneur, she possesses a high level of acumen and discerning business skills, which contributed significantly to her success. Lady Sylvia has managed to place her feet on all seven of the world's continents.

USS Arizona, upon the demise of her mother, father, her beloved husband Lord Stuart, and two siblings, her greatest sadness was the departure in 2023 of our last survivor of December 7th, 1941, during the swift attack on Pearl Harbor, sinking the USS Arizona, the water gravesite for many of the ship's 1,177 killed crewmen. Lady Sylvia served as an official member of the USS Arizona Survivors Reunion Association. Upon her many visits to the Pearl Harbor National Memorial in Oahu, Hawaii, a constructed monument over the sunken ship and a commemorative museum, she has been a supporter and donor to the monument, and the museum. Helping remaining survivors onto the battleship while attending three internments of those who desired their remains be entombed returning to their fallen shipmates, and the lowering of their urn by four navy divers inside the hull of the sunken Arizona battleship, gives a depth of grief and emotion one has to witness and feel.

Lady Sylvia has dedicated a significant portion of her life modeling.

She qualified as a professional model in San Francisco, and modeled onsite during the building of the new $1.3 billion J. Paul Getty Center Museum, the world's wealthiest art institute in Los Angeles, California. She was called to model many times for the Bing Crosby Golf Tournament at Pebble Beach, and Tokyo, Japan. In 1968, Lady Sylvia was one of the founders of the United Irish Cultural Center in San Francisco, Miss Ireland in San Francisco, and later Miss Bicentennial of California in 1970.

Lady Sylvia's father, Richard Townley, born in 1907, was only five years old, and until he passed away at age 88, upon mentioning the Titanic, his tears were so apparent, and as a result, Lady Sylvia has been collecting artifacts and visiting the magnificently constructed Titanic museum in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Lady Sylvia has always been interested in the history of the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912 which was the pride of the White Star Line, and the largest and finest passenger ship in the world, epitomizing the spirit of the age in elegance and style.

Looking to the future, Ms. Townley-Peeler intends to divest her ownership of Putumayo Production Co. to embark on new projects. She intends to spend some time in 'Melbourne House,' her beloved Irish home in Bailieborough, County Cavan. Lady Sylvia personally designed her home taking inspiration from her grandparents, on both sides of the family's residences, and the 1890's farmhouse that she was reared in. She plans to have her late husband's book published while handling her estate planning. Lady Sylvia looks forward to continuing her travel and philanthropy enterprises well into the future.

When asked, "What do you believe gave you such great strength of character?", Lady Sylvia responded, "My dad, Richard Townley, taught me important life lessons including the greatest one, a good name and honesty. He disciplined us, taught us right from wrong, the respect for authority, and respect for ourselves. A good strong father is the bedrock of a healthy family and a healthy society. My mother, Mary Townley nee Leitch, provided tenderness and biblical spiritual anchors to me and my five siblings. My parents were my best friends whom I deeply loved. They are now in the warmth of God's embrace."

And with a smile of gratitude, Lady Sylvia proclaimed, "Thank you Dear Lord for all of my blessings. Love each other locally, nationally, and around the world. May there always be one enjoyment after another in store for you, from one who cares deeply."

As Earnest Hemingway said "In order to write about life, you must live it."
