Ms. Rivers' career journey began at The White House, where she served as a meeting planner. This early role set the foundation for her illustrious career in event planning. She subsequently moved to Hitachi Data Systems as a meeting event planner, after which she took on roles at Robert Half International and American Express at Intel as a meeting and event planner. Her expertise led her to Cisco Systems as a contract meeting manager, followed by a position at The PMI Group as a meeting event specialist. Ms. Rivers further honed her skills at Abbott Diabetes Care as an executive assistant to the director of human resources and a meeting planner before joining VMware as a senior meeting planner.
Before embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Rivers studied theater, dance and education at Keuka College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts with majors in theater, English and education in 1976. Following this accomplishment, she received a master's degree in dance therapy from Goucher College in 1986. Additionally, she has obtained certifications in sign language from Goucher College between 2011 and 2013.
Throughout her career, Ms. Rivers has been recognized for her exceptional work with several awards, including a Planner Award from Abbott Diabetes Care, Employee of the Month at Robert Half, and an acknowledgment from Mrs. Reagan during her tenure at The White House. In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Rivers has contributed her time as a meeting planner for the Center for Elders' Independence in 2014.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Rivers is passionate about traveling, theater, dancing, exploring different cultures, entertaining, and movies. Looking ahead, she is preparing for retirement, with plans to fulfill her dream of moving to Positano, Italy, for six months with her partner.
