His leadership and business acumen were further honed as executive director at Ensign Services and vice president of global marketing and sales at Co-Diagnostics Inc., the company responsible for launching the first commercially available COVID-19 PCR test in 2020. Early in his healthcare career, he held roles as regional sales manager and product manager for the oncology and transplantation portfolio at Novartis Pharma.
Mr. Amado's experience extends beyond healthcare. He has served on the board of directors at Meisa Trafos in the energy sector, managed humanitarian efforts as an area welfare manager at the LDS Area Office, and held a leadership role as store manager at Toys"R"Us. Additionally, he owned and operated both a dry cleaning franchise and an ice cream franchise, successfully selling them in 2006.
After graduating from high school in 1987, Mr. Amado dedicated two years of service as a full-time missionary for his church, further shaping his values of service, leadership, and community dedication—principles that have guided him throughout his career.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Amado is deeply involved in civic service. Active in his local church, Mr. Amado volunteers with justserve.org and participates annually in cleanup efforts at the National Cemetery in Houston. Mr. Amado's academic background includes a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in strategy from Universidad de Valparaíso, completed in 2003, and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Brigham Young University, earned in 1995. He holds a high school diploma from Instituto Austriaco Guatemalteco, obtained in 1987. Certified as a preceptor by Texas Health and Human Services and holding an LNFA certification from the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, Mr. Amado attributes his success to his values, the dedication of those around him, learning from best practices, and the lessons derived from his mistakes and failures.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Amado enjoys spending time with his wife and their three sons, working out, playing guitar, traveling, and serving his community.
