Since 1998, Ms. Costa McKeown has been the owner and director of DanceWorks studios in Montclair, New Jersey. At her studio she instructs up to twelve classes weekly, oversees managerial positions and schedules, arranged faculty and payroll, and organized performances locally and abroad; among these other obligations she directs the dance company.
In addition to managing DanceWorks, Ms. Costa McKeown co-founded Soul Serenity U.S. LLC with two business partners in 2022. Based in Montclair, the company provides inspiration, support, and education through guided meditation. Beyond these business ventures, Ms. Costa McKeown serves on the board of Dance New Jersey and the dance advisory board for the Montclair Arts Festival and New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
Ms. Costa McKeown's passion for dance began very young and grew stronger as she pursued her studies. During college, she discovered a deep love for teaching and choreography, which led her to manage a dance studio for a decade before establishing her own studio.
As a graduate of Montclair State University, Ms. Costa McKeown received a Bachelor of Arts in dance. She then further enriched her skills through an intensive summer program with the Bill Evans Dance Company. Additionally, she received a Pilates mat certification and Ellové Technique Certification.
Ms. Costa McKeown's humanitarian efforts have taken her to countries like Ghana, Lebanon and South Africa, where she has selflessly taught dance to children in underprivileged communities and at children's hospitals. Her extracurricular involvement has also included participation in civic-minded organizations, such as Dance for the Underprivileged.
Besides these commitments, Ms. Costa McKeown has become a well-written writer, authoring "How to Heal a Cracked Heel: Let's Google It." Her contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards, such as the Del Keiffner Award for her outstanding commitment to arts education and choreography. In addition, DanceWorks Studios has performed at international dance invitationals including London, Spain, Italy, and Greece.
Determined to expand her presence, Ms. Costa McKeown plans to participate in large-scale speaking engagements where she can emphasize the value of performing arts and dance education.
