He also acts as a spokesperson and point of contact representing the commercial data & analytics team, collaborating with the enterprise data governance team. Additionally, he manages data cataloging, classification, and lineage initiatives while leading and working with teams of data analysts, data scientists, data modelers, and data management professionals across functions, ensuring firm-wide controls and data integrity.
Before his current role, Mr. Matai was the program manager for the group data privacy and protection initiative at United Overseas Bank Limited Co. from 2023 to 2024. In this capacity, he managed comprehensive data privacy strategies and initiatives. From 2022 to 2023, he was a strategic client architect for data strategy, cloud integration, business intelligence and analytics at Salesforce. His tenure at Santander Bank N.A. from 2019 to 2022 as senior vice president and associate director of enterprise data governance was marked by his successful leadership in addressing federal data management and data risk issues.
Mr. Matai's earlier career includes significant roles such as head of data management for the financial crime risk mitigation program at Standard Chartered Bank from 2015 to 2019 and various positions at Infosys Limited from 2004 to 2015. These roles included lead solution architect, integration architect, product technology lead, product consultant, implementation engineer, and software developer. He also served as a senior consultant for Discover Financial Services at Capgemini in 2012.
In addition to his professional roles, Mr. Matai has contributed to academia as a course instructor at Columbia University in 2019. His expertise in Data Management and AI governance has been recognized through numerous accolades and recognitions like a Global Recognition Award, an International Achievers Award, an International Distinguished Innovation Award, and an International Best Article Award, including a global patent for an incremental download framework.
Mr. Matai's academic background includes a Bachelor of Technology in Software Systems from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in 2004 and a Master of Science in Applied Analytics from Columbia University in 2019.
