SAINT JOSEPH, MN, October 16, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sanford L. Moskowitz, PhD, is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. He was recently spotlighted in New York City's Times Square on a 22-story screen that is passed by an estimated 1.5 million people daily. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are chosen from among a pool of the most prominent professionals and are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Since 2017, Dr. Moskowitz has made a name for himself as a tenured professor at both Saint John's University and the College of Saint Benedict in Collegeville, Minnesota. His expertise lies in the fields of international business and global innovation, which are the focal points of his teaching. He has played a pivotal role in the development and instruction of a course that delves into the history of artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity, and their profound influence on society in the 21st century.

Dr. Moskowitz's journey at these institutions began as an assistant professor from 2005 to 2011, after which he served as an associate professor until 2017. Throughout his time at the university, he held the position of department chair for global business leadership for seven years. Under his leadership, the department cultivated one of the most diverse faculties within the institution.

Beyond his academic contributions, Dr. Moskowitz has also offered his insights on innovation to both well-established companies and burgeoning startups, both domestically and internationally. His proficiency in the innovation process, economic prediction and public policy has made him a trusted advisor to his clients. In his role as a consultant, he has been called upon to provide expert testimony for prominent legal firms in cases that revolve around the creation and promotion of technologies in the biotech, pharmaceutical and energy sectors.

Dr. Moskowitz's professional accomplishments have their roots in his family's legacy and his own scholarly pursuits. His father, Dr. Fred Moskowitz, an esteemed electrical engineer known internationally as the author of the Moskowitz Factoring Theorem–a cornerstone theory in network reliability analysis–had a significant influence on him. This led Dr. Moskowitz to earn a Bachelor of Science, with a minor in English, from the City College of New York. Despite being accepted into prestigious graduate programs in physics at the University of Chicago and the University of California Berkeley, Dr. Moskowitz chose a different path. He decided to pursue a master's degree in philosophy and history, and a PhD in economic history and the history of technology from Columbia University. His academic trajectory showcases his remarkable adaptability, having gained acceptance into top-tier graduate programs in diverse fields and ultimately choosing a specialization that marries the liberal arts with technology studies.

Dr. Moskowitz has made significant contributions to the literature on innovation, global research and development, and the advanced materials industry. His earlier works include "The Advanced Materials Revolution: Technology and Economic Growth in the Age of Globalization" and "Advanced Materials Innovation: Managing Global Technology in the 21st Century." In 2024, he added another title to his repertoire with "Managing Technology from Laboratory to Marketplace: Cheating the Valley of Death," a part of Springer Nature's Management for Professionals series. This latest publication encapsulates Dr. Moskowitz's vast experience and proficiency in the field of technology commercialization.

Dr. Moskowitz's research has garnered recognition from esteemed platforms such as The Economist, Wired, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, the American Institute of Physics, The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, The Institute for Defense Analysis, the European Union's European Commission and the Routledge Companion to Contemporary Architectural History. His work has also been referenced in various doctoral theses produced by leading university graduate programs in disciplines such as anthropology, architecture, and engineering. Additionally, Dr. Moskowitz has frequently been invited to present his research findings and deliver keynote speeches at both professional and academic conferences and symposia, both within the US and internationally. He is presently engaged in developing a book project with the publisher Springer Nature on the global competition now taking place in nanotechnology. A tentative title for the upcoming book is: "The Nanotech Wars: The US and Competitive Advantage in the New Industrial Age."

In the years to come, Dr. Moskowitz hopes to continue contributing to various policy initiatives within the federal government. Likewise, he aspires to carry on with his writing projects and further distinguish himself as a luminary figure in his field.
