Dr. Carr, professor emeritus of English at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, dedicated nearly three decades to academia, specializing in the literature of Australia, New Zealand and Oceania. One of Dr. Carr's most notable achievements was the introduction of Pacific literature into the curriculum, which engaged undergraduate students and fostered a strong connection with Alaska native students by highlighting their cultural similarities with the New Zealand Maori and Aboriginal Australians.
