    COLUMBIA, MD, October 18, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hans Jürgen Hoyer, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Hoyer is a distinguished figure in engineering education and international development. As a resident scholar at George Mason University, he connects with students from diverse backgrounds, helping them bridge cultural gaps. Additionally, Dr. Hoyer has been instrumental as the secretary general for the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies and executive director for the Global Engineering Deans Council since 2011.

Dr. Hoyer's academic career included appointments as a resident scholar at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and taught at Montgomery College in Maryland. He was also a resident scholar at Marquette University. His academic journey continued as he took on the role of dean for the graduate program at the School for International Training under World Learning.

Outside the classroom, Dr. Hoyer was the executive director of the executive training program for global governmental and NGO leaders in Brattleboro, Vermont. He also led international NGOs in Africa, South American, and Latin America. Additionally, he served as the chief executive officer of the World Links Development Program at the World Bank. Dr. Hoyer then joined the American Society for Engineering Education in Washington, D.C. to connect U.S. engineering teams and professors with the global community. He helped establish the International Federation for Engineering Education Societies in Brazil in 2006 and the Global Engineering Deans Council in Paris in 2008.

Dr. Hoyer's extensive educational background includes a bachelor's degree in political science, international relations and music from the University of Georgia and a master's degree in political science and cultural anthropology from the University of Kentucky. His academic journey culminated with a Doctor of Philosophy from American University in Washington, D.C., focusing on Latin America. Upon completion of his doctorate, Dr. Hoyer worked for The Inter American Foundation, which was formed by the U.S. Congress. Dr. Hoyer later completed postdoctoral coursework as a fellow at the Organization of American States, and was a resident scholar at MIT and Harvard University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Hoyer has been involved in numerous organizations and initiatives to advance engineering education and global development. He has served on several advisory boards, including UNITAR's United Nations Division of Prosperity and UNESCO's International Center for Engineering Education at Tsinghua University. Dr. Hoyer co-founded the Indo-Universal Collaboration for Engineering Education and was a global advisor to several institutions, such as SUSTech in Shenzhen, China, and Beihang University School of Engineering in China. He is the co-chief editor of the Journal for Engineering Education at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He is also on the executive committees in various universities.

Dr. Hoyer is also an accomplished author and keynote speaker. He has written and published extensively on engineering education, global issues and capacity building. He has facilitated dialogues among students, academic leaders, engineers and professionals from various disciplines to create a global network of students.

Remaining actively involved in numerous organizations and initiatives worldwide, Dr. Hoyer will be co-leading conferences in Serbia and Sydney, Australia in 2024, while working closely with a major conference in South Korea in 2025. Moreover, he continues to contribute to book series integrating different engineering disciplines and especially focusing on women engineering leaders through the series of "Rising to the Top".
