He is also the co-founder and president of Creatum Solar, an EPC company that provides solar systems and battery storage for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects and applications across the US. Drawing on over 25 years of experience, he has demonstrated expertise in creating solutions for the energy, oil and gas, and renewables industries, particularly in prefabricated electrical substations up to 230 kV for wide applications in the petrochemical, LNG, and renewables markets. Among his many career achievements, he has been responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive revenue growth and increase market share and for leading and implementing best practices for designing e-houses and electrical substations from start to end.
Before his current roles, Mr. Illarramendi served as president of Linestar E&I, a construction, fabrication, integration, and electrical services provider, from 2022 to 2024. He also spent a decade at the technology leader ABB from 2012 to 2022, holding positions such as senior electrical solutions consultant, sales and operations interface manager, electrical engineering manager, and project manager. During this period, he honed his electrical engineering and project management skills, contributing significantly to the company's success in managing projects worldwide for customers like Chevron, Oxy, Shell, BP, GE, ENI, ExxonMobil, Kiewit, KBR, Statoil, Bechtel, Fluor and others.
Mr. Illarramendi also was a project manager at Lectrus Corporation from 2011 to 2012. Earlier in his career, he held roles at Hewlett Packard Enterprise as project manager and high voltage DC and battery storage expert working on projects for the US Department of Energy, Nextec Energy as engineering and operations manager where manufactured power inverters used in the telecom and renewables industry performing projects in several countries worldwide like US, India, Philippines, Panama, Mexico, Fiji and others and Digitel Corporation.
Naturally curious since childhood, Mr. Illarramendi pursued an early interest in dismantling household electrical equipment. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in electrical and electronics engineering from DeVry University and a finance and accounting certificate from Rice Business Jones Graduate School of Business.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Illarramendi is actively involved in civic-minded organizations. He served as a curriculum advisor at DeVry University and participates in the packaging group at the Houston Food Bank. His advisory role for the Iraq-Afghanistan Electrical Infrastructure Reconstruction with the U.S. State Department and work with the U.S. Department of Energy's Greenland Project highlight his commitment to excellence.
