Dr. Karvosky is lauded for his work as a consultant dispensary pharmacist with a notable career in the medical marijuana industry since 2015. Since 2021, he has been affiliated with Verano in Waterbury, and Meriden Connecticut (when Verano acquired Caring Nature and Willowbrook Wellness). As a dispensary consultant pharmacist, Dr. Karvosky's responsibilities include, accessing, recommending, instructing and adjusting when recommending medical marijuana products. Dr. Karvosky's role has evolved from conducting hour-long consultations to assisting patients at the counter. In addition to his role at Verano, Dr. Karvosky has been a consultant pharmacist for Apothecary Consulting Services LLC, since 2012 and Green Thumb Industries since 2019. His work in Connecticut's medical marijuana program has significantly impacted patients' lives and has been his most gratifying work during his 30-year career.
Dr. Karvosky through his work in his business Apothecary Consulting Services LLC, provides pharmaceutical services to the public, long-term care industry and Government agencies. Services included medication management, regulatory compliance, inspections and educational.
Before his current roles, Dr. Karvosky was a dispensary pharmacist at Compassionate Care Center of Connecticut from 2015 to 2018, where he was the 35th pharmacist in the country licensed to work with patients with medical marijuana (Connecticut was the first State in the country to mandate pharmacists in the medical marijuana industry). From 2014 to 2018, he garnered success in the classroom as an adjunct professor at Lincoln College of New England in Southington, Connecticut, sharing his expertise in pharmaceuticals.
Inspired by his father, a pharmacist who owned his own pharmacy for almost 30 years, Dr. Karvosky initially considered taking over the family business but realized he wanted to use his mind in more diverse ways. After graduation, he began working as a decentralized pharmacist at the VA Medical Center, working closely with the medical team and participating in the daily medical rounds. This experience inspired Dr. Karvosky to combine his skills as a pharmacist with those of a physician's assistant.
Despite facing challenges in gaining acceptance in the physician's assistant program, Dr. Karvosky continued working for his father until he sold his business and later, another independent pharmacy in his hometown. He accepted a consultant pharmacist position with Omnicare of Connecticut where he learned his consulting skills working in skilled nursing home facilities.
Dr. Karvosky acquired a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from Northeastern University in 1994 and a Doctor of Pharmacy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2012.
