Prior to founding The M.A.G. Firm, Ms. Govan served as a Senior Requirements Analyst at MDB Group LLC in Arlington, Virginia, from 2021 to 2022. Beforehand, she worked as a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist with the U.S. Army Cyber Command at Fort Eisenhower, Georgia, from 2018 to 2021. Ms. Govan's military service began in 1988 when she enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 17. Initially serving as a Non-Commissioned Officer for nearly five years, she later joined the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) at South Carolina State University, where she was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant upon graduation.
Ms. Govan's academic achievements include earning a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Webster University in 1999. Currently, Ms. Govan's commitment to continuous self-improvement is evident through her pursuit of doctorate coursework. In 1992, Ms. Govan earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
In addition to her current consulting work, Ms. Govan has an extensive background in academia, having served as an Adjunct Professor at several universities where she taught leadership development and organizational leadership within the ROTC. Such dedication to education and leadership training has only further enhanced her consulting credentials. As a result of her contributions, Ms. Govan has received various awards and honors. In 2023, Ms. Govan was inducted into the South Carolina State University ROTC Hall of Fame, an achievement she considers the most notable in her professional career.
Additionally, Ms. Govan received the Governor's Citation from the Maryland Governor's Office of Small, Minority and Women's Business Affairs in 2023. In tandem with her professional pursuits, her civic involvement includes being a lifetime member of the South Carolina State University National Alumni Association since 2012. Moreover, Ms. Govan has served as Secretary of the Military Alumni Chapter and serves on the Board of Trustees for the 2nd Lt. Richard W. Collins, III Foundation.
In all, she has pursued and achieved, Ms. Govan attributes her success to the strong guidance from her mother and grandmother, who instilled in her the importance of focus, planning and hard work.
