Ms. Sipos is the president and chief executive officer of Music Matterz Inc. in Thousand Oaks, California. At the helm of her company, she has focused her career on healing and enhancing the lives of others through music therapy while also playing a pivotal role in client interactions and administrative duties. Throughout her career, Ms. Sipos has held various roles that have shaped her expertise and influence in the field. From 2018 to 2022, she served as a music therapist at the CSUN Music Therapy & Wellness Clinic, serving a wide variety of populations. She previously garnered success as a music educator in the Conejo Valley Unified School District from 1995 to 2013, and at Bridges Charter School and the Oak Park Unified School District between 2016 and 2018. Apart from her work in music and education, Ms. Sipos has received numerous accolades for her extensive commitment to service within her community including the Conejo Las Virgines Future Foundation award for community service in 2005. Most recently, under her leadership, Music Matterz Inc. received the prestigious honor of being selected as the 2024 "Awesome in Autism Children's Service Provider of the Year", by the Autism Society of Ventura County, California.
Besides her work in the field, Ms. Sipos is an accomplished motivational speaker and lecturer who encourages individuals to pursue their goals through hard work and determination in order to achieve their greatest potential. Her personal experience as a cancer survivor has reinforced her belief in pursuing one's dreams and seizing each day as an opportunity to make a positive impact in the world.
Debbie Sipos studied at California State University Northridge, where she acquired a Bachelor of Arts in interior design and architecture in 1986. Years later, she returned to the campus to earn a Bachelor of Arts in music therapy in 2017. That same year, she completed a music therapy internship at Aegis Living in Granada Hills, CA. Highly qualified in her field, Ms. Sipos holds several professional credentials, including board certification as a music therapist from the Certification Board for Music Therapists, NICU Music Therapy Certification from the Louis Armstrong Center for Music and Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center, NY, and a certification in Social Emotion Arts (SEA) from UCLArts and Healing - Department of Integrative Medicine at the University of California in Los Angeles. She also completed a fellowship program, receiving advanced training and certification in neurologic music therapy from the R.F. Unkefer Academy for Neurologic Music Therapy in 2022. During her college years, Ms. Sipos notably received third place in the California State University, Northridge Bull Ring Entrepreneurial Competition, fighting infectious disease as a member of the Germ 3 Solutions team in 2017, and received several scholarships, including the Lola Aguado-Sadlo Memorial Scholarship and the Marilyn N. Hankins Scholarship for academic achievement.
Adding to her expertise, Ms. Sipos served as the President of the Music Therapy Association of Northridge and is an active member of the American Music Therapy Association, the California Association of Music Therapy, the Western Region American Music Therapy Association, and the International Association of Music in Medicine. These memberships reflect her deep commitment to the field.
Ms. Sipos's dedication extends beyond her professional achievements. She was selected as the California State Young Mother of the Year, and the National Young Mother of the Year for 2004-2005 through American Mother's Inc., serving on both their executive board in various capacities, and on their delegation to the United Nations' 59th Commission on the Status of Women in 2015. She and her family also established the Cardiac Kids Have Heart Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping educate, assist, research, and treat children and adults with congenital heart disease, which donated diagnostic software to hospitals, provided automatic external defibrillators (AED's) to schools, and saved the lives of over 20 children through their partnership in support of life-saving surgical procedures.
In light of her accomplishments, Ms. Sipos maintains that her greatest achievement and legacy is simply that of being mother to her five remarkable sons, and grandmother to her precious grandchildren. Looking ahead, she aims to expand her practice, with the assistance of her eldest son, (himself a neurologic music therapist and Navy Veteran), who now serves as Co-Owner and Chief Operating Officer of Music Matterz Inc., ultimately establishing a creative arts and music center offering a wide variety of creative therapies, as well as exploring the possibility of creating another nonprofit organization to provide music therapy to underserved communities.
