Most recently, he served as president and chief executive officer of HealthNet Federal Credit Union before retiring in 2018. During his tenure there, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic vision, guiding the organization through various phases of growth and innovation.
Prior to his role at HealthNet Federal Credit Union, Mr. Whitten was a manager at the National Bank of Commerce. His expertise in management and product development was further honed during his time as a product development manager at Union Planters National Bank of Memphis. While contributing to this organization, he developed a staffing model for the retail system. He is very proud of his particular achievement, which was later used as a case study by his graduate school.
Mr. Whitten's academic background laid a strong foundation for his successful career. He earned a Master of Business Administration from The University of Memphis in 1983 and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Christian Brothers University in 1970. Throughout his career, Mr. Whitten has been an active member of the Tennessee Credit Union League. In addition to this membership, his dedication to excellence in the industry has been recognized through various internal awards from the banks he has served.
In his personal life, Mr. Whitten is an avid painter and finds joy in creating artwork. He also enjoys spending time with his family and serving civically as a volunteer at his church.
