It was also during his naval service that he obtained U.S. citizenship.
While in the military, Mr. Guthrie graduated from the Naval School of Cryogenics in 1974 with qualifications in liquid oxygen and nitrogen production and high-pressure compressor operations. Subsequently, he received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1982.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Guthrie was actively involved in industry-related organizations, including the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. His commitment to community service is evident through his pro bono work.
