Dedicated to the promotion of self-care in the coming years, Mr. Eade attributes his success to his ability to concentrate, his determination, and his resilience when faced with setbacks.
MENLO PARK, CA, November 12, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James Vincent Eade, author of "Freedom: Your Path to Recovery," was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the Southern California Edition of The Wall Street Journal, published on June 12, 2024.
James Vincent Eade, inspired by the selflessness of such iconic figures as Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and Martin Luther King Jr., has served as the chief executive officer of The Eade Foundation since 2019. Drawing from a deep and extensive background of excellence in the game of chess, he has dedicated himself to promoting chess literacy in underprivileged communities worldwide. The foundation's charitable initiatives include distributing chess game boards and providing free lessons to aspiring students. To help support its mission of philanthropy and spreading chess literacy, the foundation also offers the Arthur Award, a $1,000 prize named in honor of Mr. Eade's father, who introduced him to the game during his childhood.
Beyond his notable contributions to the realm of chess, Mr. Eade has established himself as a prolific author. In addition to the widely acclaimed "Chess for Dummies," an introductory guide to the game that first hit the shelves in 1996, he penned "The Chess Player's Bible: Illustrated Strategies for Staying Ahead of the Game" in 2004 and "Chess Openings for Dummies" in 2010.
In 2023, Mr. Eade shifted his focus toward themes of personal growth with the publication of "Freedom: Your Path to Recovery." This self-help book, available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble, offers a potential blueprint for readers who are struggling with addiction and encourages various changes and general reflection on unhealthy patterns of thinking.
Outside of his work in print media, Mr. Eade has also dabbled in video interviews with his new program, "Change Your Mind," which features guest appearances by various speakers and serves as a forum for open-minded debate and consensus building. Launched in 2023, "Change Your Mind" can be viewed via Roku, Amazon, and YouTube.
Prior to his current endeavors, Mr. Eade studied history at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1978. In the years to follow, he subsequently received a Master of Arts in human resources management and organization development from the University of San Francisco in 1991.
Motivated by a desire to give back to the community that supported him during his formative years, Mr. Eade embarked on a journey of organizing chess tournaments in the 1990s. His efforts culminated in the prestigious 1995 Pan Pacific International Chess Tournament, which was won by Russian chess master Viktor Korchnoi, and the equally notable 1996 Hall of Fame Tournament.
Mr. Eade's commitment to the chess world extended beyond tournaments – he assumed key leadership roles within several influential organizations, including as a policy board member of the U.S. Chess Federation (USCF), the president of the American zone of the International Chess Federation, and the president at the U.S. Chess Trust. Additionally, he contributed significantly as the president of the Chess Journalists of America, the Northern California Chess Federation, and the Kolty Chess for Youth Foundation.
Esteemed for his contributions to the chess community, Mr. Eade was named as the Chess Educator of the Year by the University of Texas at Dallas in 2016, and was later honored with an Outstanding Career Achievement Award from the USCF in 2018. Following this accomplishment, he was hailed with a Chess Journalist of America Award for Best Chess Website in 2022.
Dedicated to the promotion of self-care in the coming years, Mr. Eade attributes his success to his ability to concentrate, his determination, and his resilience when faced with setbacks.
