In June of 1993 placed second in the Western AATS competing against flight Pilots from the western United States, (AH-1 Cobra Combat Crew Competition) Additionally, he was awarded the Spurgeon Award for Anatomy, recognizing his proficiency in this critical area of veterinary science in 2000.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Beckers has pursued interests such as competing in rodeos, where he participated in events like bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc riding as well as performing as a rodeo clown/bullfighter. However, following a recent neck injury that requires treatment, he is contemplating future career paths that may include consulting in veterinary medicine or teaching at a veterinary school due to potential limitations on working with large animals or engaging in physically demanding activities.
