Dr. Kirklin, a distinguished professional with seven years of counseling experience, currently serves as the Regional Clinical Director at Rite of Passage, a provider of programs, services and direct resources that empower youth and families to succeed. Since stepping into this role in February 2024, he has provided clinical oversight for five juvenile treatment centers in the state of Arkansas, leading quality improvement efforts and clinical strategies that reflect the company's mission. His leadership role also includes setting standards and strategic goals, analyzing program elements, and monitoring and evaluating the daily performance of clinical program staff.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Kirklin spent two years as the Assistant Regional Clinical Director and Inaugural Clinical Director at Center for Discovery in Portland, Oregon, where he oversaw the clinic's home location while working with other clinical and program directors to drive toward regional goals and standards. His earlier career includes serving as a Clinical Therapist at Pinnacle Pointe Behavioral Healthcare System in Little Rock from 2020 to 2022 and as a Mental Health Counselor and Disability Services Counselor at University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock from 2018 to 2022.

Dr. Kirklin's career began with roles that laid the foundation for his expertise in counseling and mental health services. He worked as a Clinical Therapist at Youth Home, Inc. from 2017 to 2018 and as a direct support professional at Group Living Inc. from 2016 to 2017. His early professional journey also included a position as a sudent organization graduate assistant supervisor at Henderson State University. In addition to his primary roles, Dr. Kirklin is an part-time faculty member at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.

Dr. Kirklin's commitment to his profession is further demonstrated through his active involvement in several industry-related organizations. He is a member of the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, where he previously served on the membership committee and previously served as a fellowship volunteer reviewer for the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. He is also affiliated with the American Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota, Kappa Delta Pi and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

His academic achievements have been instrumental in shaping his career. Dr. Kirklin earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision, with a specialization in Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands in 2022, completing a dissertation titled "The Lived Experiences of Black Baptist Pastors When Providing Counsel to Congregational Members." He holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Henderson State University, completed in 2017, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the same institution. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor licensure in Arkansas, Texas and Oregon. He also holds certifications as a: Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor; and National Certified Counselor designations from the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc.

Dr. Kirklin attributes his success to his passion for his work and dedication to giving back to others. His spirituality and religion play a significant role in guiding him through challenges, while his parents' teachings on integrity have been influential throughout his life.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Kirklin is actively involved in civic organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas, and he previously served as a governor-appointed board member on the Arkansas Alcohol and Drug Abuse Coordinating Council. His accolades include being named 2020 Emerging Leader by the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision and receiving the 2016 Minority Fellowship Program award from the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc.

Born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Dr. Kirklin enjoys traveling, spending time with family and exploring new restaurants during his leisure time. Looking ahead, he aims to advance his career toward becoming a Chief Executive Officer of a prominent company while balancing personal aspirations such as starting a family and leaving a lasting legacy.
