Prior to his current role, Mr. Spanos served as a partner at Akerman LLP in Atlanta from 2019 to 2022. For the preceding six years, he was a partner at Barnes & Thornburg LLP, where he honed his skills and expanded his influence within the legal community. His career also includes a long partnership at Burr & Forman LLP from 2003 to 2013 and an eight-year tenure at Littler Mendelson.
Mr. Spanos's career began with notable success at a specialized construction firm, where he demonstrated his legal acumen in a complex antitrust case involving the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. In all his accomplishments, he attributes much of his professional success to the opportunities he received early in his career and the support from loyal clients who recognized his abilities.
Mr. Spanos's academic background laid a strong foundation for his successful career. He earned a Juris Doctor from The University of Michigan Law School in 1976, where he also received the Sarah Honigman Memorial Award and served as Editor-in-Chief of The University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform. He also obtained a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Harvard University in 1970.
A member of several prestigious industry-related organizations, Mr. Spanos is affiliated with the State Bar of Georgia, the American Bar Association, The District of Columbia Bar, The Signet Society and the Phillips Brooks House Association. In addition to his professional endeavors, he serves civically as an outside general counselor for a nonprofit trade association.
In his personal life, Mr. Spanos enjoys training German Shepherds for sports.
