Additionally, he is a graduate research assistant and a GEM fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, roles he has held since 2023. Mr. Bermudez's early career included roles as research study assistant and research assistant at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from 2016 to 2019, where he gained invaluable biomedical data analysis experience. Mr. Bermudez's academic achievements are impressive, with his ongoing pursuit of a PhD in health medical physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also is close to obtaining his Master of Science in health medical physics from the same institution and earned his bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering with a minor in mathematics at the City College of New York. Throughout his career, Mr. Bermudez has been recognized with numerous awards, such as GEM's Inclusion in Innovation Initiative Travel Award in 2024 the NSF Travel Grant for Black Tech Week in 2024. He has also been honored with fellowships that include the GEM Fellowship from The National GEM Consortium at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and MIT Lincoln Laboratory since 2022 and the Bioengineering Research Fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania in 2022.
Mr. Bermudez holds memberships with Sigma Xi, Tau Beta Pi and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he is actively involved in civic-minded organizations, serving as a scholarship reviewer for SME and an article reviewer for journals such as the Journal of Physics in Medicine and Biology and the Biomedical Physics & Engineering Express.
