FOREST, VA, November 27, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Grady S. (Steve) Mills II has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Mills dedicated over three decades to his profession before retiring from the U.S. Army at the rank of Colonel. His career in military operations included service in logistics and communications-electronics positions of increasing responsibility, enabling application in several post-military positions. Following his retirement from active duty, Mr. Mills transitioned into the private sector with a stint in Military Professional Resources Incorporated, (acquired by L- 3COM) from 2003 to 2009, where he continued to leverage his military experience and leadership skills to support the development of the Army's proposed Future Combat System of Systems.

During his first decade in the U.S. Army, Mr. Mills served as a signal officer responsible for communications and electronics at both the company and battalion levels, commanding a signal company and supporting the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea. Pivoting into a primary specialty in multifunctional logistics, he later had the opportunity to command the Main Support Battalion of the First Infantry Division. Throughout his 30-year tenure, Mr. Mills held over 15 different assignments, including command at the group/brigade levels. He also notably served for two years in the Pentagon as part of the J4 directorate of the Joint Staff. Mr. Mills's last assignment was as the Commandant of the U.S. Army Logistics Management College in Virginia.

Mr. Mills says one of his most significant career accomplishments occurred while serving at the U.S. Army Logistics Management College. He led his team to attain accreditation by the Council of American Colleges and Universities as a degree-granting institution. This feat was particularly notable because it was accomplished in just 15 months.

Highly educated, Mr. Mills earned a Bachelor of Arts in government with a minor in English from Florida State University in 1972, a master's degree in national resources strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces at the National Defense University, and a second master's degree in logistics management from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Deeply committed to civic engagement outside the military, Mr. Mills is a court-appointed special advocate (CASA) in Bedford County, Virginia, and volunteers with the YMCA's "Rock Steady Boxing" program that helps Parkinson's Disease patients. Moreover, as a Christ follower, he is a member of Gideons International serving in Virginia, as the central region director. He also served various disaster relief teams with Samaritan's Purse.

As Mr. Mills looks forward to the future, he is focusing on growing his wealth to provide quality private Christian education for his grandchildren. This goal underscores his belief in the importance of high-quality education as an investment in his family's future. It also serves as part of the legacy Mr. Mills wishes to leave behind.
