Dr. Oriaifo is a distinguished professional working in the field of pharmacy, where she currently serves as the chief pharmacy officer at Total Health Care Inc., one of Maryland's largest minority-run, nonprofit, tax-exempt community health centers. With a career spanning over a decade, she has demonstrated her expertise in leadership, strategic growth, compliance, quality and health center business operations. In her current role with Total Health Care, she oversees all aspects of pharmacy operations, including 340B program management, strategic planning, marketing, budget management, accreditations, and regulatory compliance and is credited with creating the Total Health Care pharmacy brand, digital marketing platforms, various services to provide medication access and improve medication adherence and specialty pharmacy services.
In 2023, Dr. Oriaifo's dedication to her profession was further exemplified by her appointment as a board of pharmacy commissioner for the Maryland Board of Pharmacy. Dr. Oriaifo began her career in pharmacy as a pharmacy manager at Safeway, a position she contributed in from 2008 to 2012 before being later promoted to regional pharmacy manager, a role she held from 2012 to 2013, fulfilling a long-held aspiration.
Following her initial experience and promotion at Safeway, Dr. Oriaifo then transitioned to Remedi SeniorCare Pharmacy, where she worked as a pharmacist and interim pharmacist in charge from 2012 to 2013 before becoming the general manager of long-term care pharmacy operations from 2013 to 2014. Her journey continued at Partners Pharmacy, where she served as pharmacist in charge from 2015 to 2016 and director of long-term care pharmacy operations from 2016 to 2017. Dr. Oriaifo then joined the Baltimore Medical System as a clinical pharmacist.
At the Baltimore Medical System, Dr. Oriaifo continued to grow and share her expertise from 2014 to 2018 before taking on the role of director of pharmacy for the 340B multi-site program at Total Health Care in 2018, ultimately stepping into her current position in 2022. In addition to her professional roles, she has made significant contributions to the field through her involvement with various industry-related organizations, and speaking engagements . She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Pharmacist Association, the Maryland Pharmacists Association, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Maryland Medicaid Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Originally from Nigeria, Dr. Oriaifo immigrated to the United States, where she first completed a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2003 before earning a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in 2008. Most recently, in 2019, she received a Master of Business Administration from Colorado Technical University. Along with pursuing a career in pharmacy to help others, she loves that her profession enables her to utilize her science background while at the same time allowing her to experience the business side of the health care field.
Coupled with her degrees, Dr. Oriaifo holds numerous certifications, including executive management certifications and Lean Six Sigma belts, which have enhanced her leadership capabilities. She is a public speaker speaking at national conferences such as the 340B Coalition Conference, Chief Pharmacy Officer Summit- Beckers Healthcare. She is also an author with her first book titled Your Guide To A Career in Pharmacy A Comprehensive Overview. Her dedication extends beyond her professional life into civic engagement and scholarly contributions, authoring articles for professional journals. Dr. Oriaifo volunteers at her church and has been recognized for her leadership throughout her academic career with inductions into both the Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Society and the Rho Chi Academic Honor Society as well as being awarded the Student Government Association Leadership Award.
In support of her commitment to advancing pharmacy practices and making impactful contributions to her field, Dr. Oriaifo developed the Total Health Care Pharmacy Technician Apprentice Program which was approved by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy in 2023 as a start to career pathing for pharmacy technicians.
