Ms. Escamilla has established herself as a dedicated professional with over 20 years of experience in her field. Currently a city council member for the City of Lynnwood since 2024, she is committed to addressing the concerns of her constituents by actively engaging with the community and nurturing relationships. Her appointment to the city council is a testament to her life's work, and she takes pride in this achievement.
Before entering public service, Ms. Escamilla was the Client Development Manager for Washington and Oregon for Terracon from 2021 to 2024, after initially joining the organization as a Senior Project Manager and Authorized Project Reviewer for asbestos in 2020. Ms. Escamilla started her profession in 2005 as a Staff Scientist then Project Scientist for ATC Associates, performing all aspects of environmental consulting ranging from Due Diligence Phase I and II Site Assessments, Limited Subsurface Investigations, Mold and Moisture Assessments, Indoor Air Quality Investigations, and Regulated Building Materials Surveys which included contaminants such as asbestos, PCB's and Heavy Metals. She then joined Professional Service Industries Inc. as an Environmental Project Manager from 2008 and 2009. From 2009 to 2010 she worked as a contract employee for Argus Pacific Inc. performing regulated building material inspections, report writing, QA/QC, and mentoring staff. She then joined EHS-International Inc., a small minority-owned consulting firm, working her way up from Project Manager to Technical Services Coordinator to Principal in Charge and Department Manager of Hazardous Material Services and minority shareholder.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Escamilla received a Bachelor of Science in Resource and Environmental Studies from Texas State University with a certificate in Water Resource Management in 2004. This education laid the foundation for her career in environmental science, where she gained extensive knowledge across federal, public works education, and healthcare sectors. Ms. Escamilla also holds several certifications from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, including being an Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act certified trainer, asbestos inspector, management planner, project designer and lead-safe renovation contractor.
Ms. Escamilla's expertise has been recognized through her involvement in various industry-related organizations. She has been a member of the Seattle Chapter of the Women Leaders Association, the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), the Society of American and Military Engineers, the Association for Learning Environments and on the professional development committees for both Women in Environment and NAWIC. She also served as the 2024 Association for Learning Environments Conference Co-chair, Washington Chapter.
Ms. Escamilla's extensive civic involvement reflects her commitment to advocacy, community service, and the youth of the City of Lynnwood and surrounding areas. She was first introduced to the Lynnwood community as a young parent wanting to be involved in her local community and school district. Since moving to Lynnwood, WA in 2011, she has participated in three professional boards and committees for the City of Lynwood, including the Economic Development Advisory Board, the South Lynnwood Neighborhood Co-design Committee, and the beginning of the City's Comprehensive Plan Update. During this time, she also served as her children's elementary school PSO Vice President for 5 years and participated in her son's middle school Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Board. In addition, she has also been active with the youth by serving as a head coach for the Alderwood Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington since 2012, the Lynnwood Select AAU Basketball Feeder Program since 2018, and as a junior varsity basketball coach for Lynnwood High School when needed in the off season since 2022. This year she has decided to take a break from coaching to dive into her newly appointed role as the City of Lynnwood City Council Position No. 1.
Eager for future opportunities, Ms. Escamilla aims to further her career success while uplifting female voices and hopes to one day lead a nonprofit organization and serve on boards that algin with her passions. She envisions continuing her service on the city council representing her community for as long as the citizens of Lynnwood will have her in addition to continuing to elevate, mentor, bring together, connect, and push the needle within the architecture, engineering and construction industry.
