As Vice President of Operations, Mr. Prendergast currently leads a team of over 100 professionals for Skanska in Washington State, completing some of the most complicated construction projects in the Pacific Northwest focusing on delivering high level execution for clients such as Sound Transit and Washington State Department of Transportation.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Mr. Prendergast studied locally and earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation engineering from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Lincoln. He currently resides in Golden, Colorado, with his wife Shannon and two children, Maxx and Owen. He spends his time traveling, hiking, and coaching youth baseball.
Before his tenure at Skanska, Mr. Prendergast began his construction and engineering career as a tradesman, working as a carpenter, laborer, and surveyor from 2000 to 2005. He then worked as a Geotechnical Engineer at the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Soil Mechanics Center between 2005 and 2006 and further developed his skills set as a project engineer, superintendent, and project manager on transportation, mining, power, and rail projects from 2006 to 2013 in Arizona, New Mexico, and California.
Mr. Prendergast is actively involved in various civic-minded organizations. He volunteers for cleanup drives and tree-planting initiatives within his local community and participates in fundraising efforts for local charities. Additionally, he dedicates time and his construction know-how to Habitat for Humanity International, contributing to its mission of building homes for those in need.
